Refrigerator Bread and Butter Pickles

Description

We got this recipe from one of our neighbors after we had them at a pot luck supper. Very simple and quick to make! We frequently share this recipe based on how much people enjoy these pickles.

Ingredients

  • 3-4 medium to large pickling cucumbers
  • 1 large sweet onion (sliced thin)
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon mustard seed
  • 1/4 teaspoon celery seed
  • 1/4 teaspoon tumeric

Instructions

  1. Put all ingredients 2 quart microwave dish and cover
  2. Cook 8 minutes (stiring halfway through)
  3. Cool and put into refrigerator

Tips

Be sure not to slice the cucumbers too thinly. You want to keep about 1/6-1/4 in thick so they have more crunch.
